The MDS Primary Program educates children using the methods developed by Maria Montessori. Dr. Montessori brought to her work with children a scientific approach that taught her to observe children to see what materials.
At about the age of six, children are ready to grow beyond the experience and knowledge acquired in the Montessori Primary Program. These aspects of development have a significant impact on their educational needs.
By using our Extended Hours Program, MDS students can be at school before and after regular school hours on school days. All before and after school care takes place in the Extended Hours room in the Primary building.
In order to offer working MDS parents a consistent environment for their children on certain days when school is closed, we offer MVP days. The Extended Hours classroom is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Our Summer Fun program for 3-5 year olds offers a different curriculum than that of our school program but it’s Montessori oriented. Materials are displayed on child sized shelves and children are free to move about.
Summer Programs Are Open To All Children Including Those Who Do Not Attend MDS. Children have fun and learn at the same time – 8 one week segments with different areas of focus – Hands on experimentation – Projects reflect students’ interests.
We offer weekly on-site observations of our classrooms so you can see how Montessori works.
